Eligibility


Applicants must be at least 18 years old by the time they start their studies. Candidates should have completed secondary education (high school) or be in their final year at the time of application. In the latter case, the matriculation or school leaving certificate must be submitted before the final deadline.

DGU expects applicants to have a strong academic background in natural sciences (especially IT and mathematics), solid English skills, and high motivation. The English-language programs are designed for international applicants who are not eligible to follow lectures in Hungarian language.

Providing false information or violating admission rules may result in disqualification at any stage of the admission process.

 

 

 

Application and Admission


Application Process
Applicants must express their intention for enrollment in written form to the International Center (international@gde.hu) by June 15 at the latest. Subsequently, the International Center will send an online application form to be completed. Applicants must submit the documents listed below in English (or with certified English translations) via e-mail  to international@gde.hu) together with their application.

 

Required Documents to be Submitted

  1. CV (in English).
  2. Letter(s) of Recommendation (optional but welcome).
  3. Copy of high school diploma/matriculation certificate (include document registration number).
  4. Copy of previously obtained higher education degree/diploma and official transcripts (requirement for applicants to Master’s programmes)
  5. Copy of passport or national ID (EU/EEA students).

 

Admission Procedure Fee
The admission fee covers the management of the application procedure and up to two entrance exam attempts. The entrance exam consists of an oral interview. The EUR 200 admission procedure fee must be paid via bank transfer. For bank transfers, the payment date is considered the date the amount arrives in the university’s account. It is generally non-refundable and must be paid in order for the application to be processed. The fee includes administrative costs and covers up to two entrance exam attempts.

 

Enrollment Fee
The enrollment fee is EUR 200.


Entrance Examinations
After application submission, applicants will be informed about the date of the exam. Two attempts are allowed annually, covered by the admission procedure fee.

Admission Decisions and Appeals
Decisions are made by the Admission Committee based on academic records, interview results, English proficiency, and personal attributes (motivation, intellect, communication skills, etc.). Diversity and gender balance are also considered.
Applicants will be informed about the result of the exam within 5 working days. Appeals must be submitted within 15 days of the decision, with specific reasoning and evidence. Appeals are reviewed by the Rector.
Only authorized individuals with legally valid documentation may represent applicants.
If the exam is successful and the full tuition fee is paid, a Letter of Acceptance will be sent to the applicant.

Legal and Administrative Regulations for Foreign Student Applicants

Deferring Admission
Admission is valid for the current year. Students unable to begin studies may request a one-year deferral with written justification. If approved, the deposit is retained, and admission resumes the following year. Deferral is not guaranteed and cannot be appealed if denied.

All students must register in the Neptun system. Required documents:

Residence Permit and Visa Information

 

Upon successful completion of the entrance exam and payment of the tuition fee, students will receive a Letter of Acceptance. Upon receipt of a Letter of Acceptance, international students must arrange their legal status to reside in Hungary.

Residence permits are valid up to 3 years and must be renewed 45 days before expiry. A passive student status invalidates the permit.

Health Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory for obtaining a residence permit. The policy must meet Hungarian standards.
For non-EU students, recommended providers may be suggested by the university. Coverage should include general care, hospitalization, and emergencies.

Passes are available via BKK customer service, ticket machines, or the BudapestGO app.

 

Student Card Application
Steps:

  1. Request NEK form from the Government Office (XI. district, Bocskai út 39-41).
    - Required: valid passport/ID, proof of address (address card or tenancy agreement), and student status certificate.
  2. Apply through Neptun:
    - Administration > Student Card Application > +New Application
    - Enter the NEK ID and confirm data

A temporary certificate is issued until the physical card arrives (4–8 weeks).
